Terms beginning with H
- Healing
- 1) The Healing Ministry is having a revival along with other forms of complementary medicine. It is administered by what is known as ‘the laying on of hands with prayer’. This usually takes place in the presence of the clergy and lay people either at a church service or at a bedside. It is sometimes accompanied by anointing with oil. Both practices are referred to in the letter of James in the New Testament. Healing is understood in terms of ‘wholeness’ or ‘salvation’ and is not strictly limited to physical or mental healing.
- Holy Spirit
- 1) The Holy Spirit is the breath of God that breathes life into his people. The spirit is invoked for special help in healing, blessing and empowering people to undertake the work of God. Jesus describes the Spirit as the comforter and advocate.
